Joint Strategic Needs Assessment 2015 onwards

Welcome to Cumbria’s Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).  The JSNA is an assessment of the current and future health and social care needs of Cumbria’s local communities.  Findings from the JSNA support the development of a Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Cumbria that sets out priorities to improve health and wellbeing outcomes throughout the county and aims to reduce inequalities.

The JSNA is currently going through a structured updating process, and new information will be added to the website as soon as it becomes available.  A timeline below outlines when updates for each topic are expected.

Where topics have not yet been updated, please refer to the previous JSNA pages.

Overview and Introduction

The process and format of the JSNA is changing from a single document that is produced every three years and provides a broad overview, to a continuous rolling programme of work that will see individual JSNA topics investigated and updated every three years.  The new approach allows individual topics to be explored in more detail, allowing in depth and detailed analysis and recommendations to be identified.  In addition to individual topics, an executive summary will be produced at regular intervals to review current strategic headline information, assess trends in recommendations and gaps in information, along with containing timely information that cannot be included under a single topic area.  Further information about the JSNA process is explained within the Overview and Introduction.

The table below details the individual topics and current planned timings.  This will be continually reviewed by the Health and Wellbeing Board, and may therefore be subject to change.
