The production of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is a statutory duty of the Health & Wellbeing Board (HWB) along with the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment.
The purpose of the JSNA and the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS) is to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of the local community and reduce inequalities for all ages
The JSNA is to be analysed in topics and reported by topic and executive summaries. The topics and timetable have been agreed by the HWB. A lead person for each topic has been nominated to coordinate the production of the summaries. The current details of topics and timing can be found here:
There is an emphasis to not repeat work that has already been completed. In the near future on the observatory website each topic will have its own webpage including links to all documents produced that are relevant and support understanding of the topic and ensure the topic summary does not create duplication of effort. Criteria has been written help establish which documents will contribute to the JSNA.
The Executive Summaries and topic summaries will utilise a JSNA template which highlights all the areas that contribute to a comprehensive needs assessment. The current template can be found here:
The first Executive Summary utilising the JSNA subject is currently being prepared.
